Lomira Area Digital History Initiative
Lomira Area Digital History Initiative
The Lomira Area Digital History Initiative is a digitization
project aimed at supporting the historical and genealogical needs
of residents of the area as well as those who live at a distance.
We are working to digitize the extensive collection of family
histories, photographs, and genealogical materials we hold in the
History room. We are also working to gather oral histories from
Lomira Area residents. Please contact us if you would like to be a
part of this project.

If you can’t find the item you are looking for, our library staff
can contact other libraries throughout Wisconsin and neighboring
states through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). You are welcome to visit
our circulation desk and fill out an ILL request form.
Your Lomira Quad/Graphics Community Library card gives you access
to material in the entire Monarch Library System which can all be
delivered to Lomira for your convenience.
The DPI currently contracts with eight vendors (EBSCO,
Encyclopaedia Britannica, Inc., Gale / Cengage Learning,
Heritage Microfilm, Inc., LearningExpress, LLC, ProQuest,
TeachingBooks.net, LLC, and the Wisconsin Newspaper
Association) to provide access to a large volume of full-text
information. Users can search approximately 20,000 full-text
magazines, journals, newspapers, reference materials, and other
specialized information sources.
Collections
Included are over 8,000 full text magazines and journals, over
1,500 newspapers and newswires, and approximately 6,800 full
text books. Full text articles are taken from 2,900 historical
newspaper titles.
BadgerLink also connects users to WISCAT, OCLC WorldCat,
directories of libraries, digitized library collections, and
other information.
Access
In addition the BadgerLink vendors provide access to automobile
repair manuals, company profiles, country economic reports,
industrial reports and yearbooks, biographies, primary
historical documents, charts, images, schematics, maps, poems,
essays, speeches, plays, short stories, author audio programs
and book readings, author video programs, book reviews or
discussion guides, and many other full text resources not
available through regular internet search engines.
Did you know you can download popular and classic eBooks and
audiobooks, available 24/7 from OverDrive. All you need is a
library card!
With OverDrive, you can browse the Wisconsin Digital Library’s
collection, check out with your library card, and download to a
large variety of devices. To get started, you will need to install
the free software available through either your device’s app store
or via the OverDrive website. Titles automatically expire at the
end of the lending period, so there are no late fees for digital
content.
Introducing Libby: For a long time, OverDrive has been the go-to
for Wisconsin library patrons who want to check out eBooks and
eAudioBooks. Now, OverDrive has released a new app to make it
faster and easier than ever to check out electronic materials:
Libby! The Libby app is available for Apple and Android devices as
well as devices and computers running Windows 10.
Plus, Libby is integrated with the existing OverDrive system – if
you currently use OverDrive and have a compatible device, you can
switch over to Libby at any time! And if you use a device that is
not yet supported, you can continue to use OverDrive as you have
been.
